There will be some heated competition in the legal digital movie download services coming soon. I have a feeling that youtube.com will release something similar someday soon.

I am in the process of installing a massive new World of Warcraft patch, and decided to read the details of the patch. By now, you probably know that you can get by WoW’s previous cheater sniffer with the use of Sony’s Rootkit. Could this be Blizzard’s answer to Sony’s Rootkit? Here is the actual patch explanation:

New Blizzard Launcher

A new launch utility has been created to enhance your entry into World of Warcraft! The Blizzard Launcher will provide up-to-date news and important event- and support-related updates. In some regions, the Blizzard Launcher also scans for Trojan viruses and third-party cheat programs and notifies you if it has located any on your machine. In addition to providing you with the benefits of additional anti-virus protection, the scan that the launcher conducts represents another security measure to protect your World of Warcraft account information and gameplay experience. For further details, please go to http://www.blizzard.com/support/wow/?id=aww01907p1.

So, if you are one of the dirty ones who installed a cheat program, and used Sony’s Rootkit…consider this a heads up. Ahh, now I can enjoy WoW knowing the orc next to me isn’t cheating.
